My Story
Manuao TeAotonga is one of Perth’s leading makeup artists specialising in makeup for weddings, special occasions, film, theatre, television, runway, photography, male grooming, and education.
Manuao’s introduction to the makeup world began when he started performing on stage over 30 years ago.
Makeup had only played a part-time role in his life until 2014, which was when he decided to take a break from his career in event management and styling to become a fully qualified make-up artist. Upon completing his Certificate II in Retail Make-Up and Skin Care and his Diploma of Specialist Make-Up Services, he worked for Napoleon Perdis before moving into freelance makeup artistry and education. Manuao is currently a lecturer at TAFE.
Manuao still performs and has maintained strong ties within the theatre industry in Western Australia which allows him to provide unique work experiences for his students.
“I love makeup! Whether it be beauty, fantasy, high fashion, or special effect. It’s all about creating or enhancing character and the airbrush application is a firm favourite of mine. I enjoy attending masterclasses, networking and collaborating with other creatives. Makeup is an ever-evolving world and it’s exciting to be on the journey and being a part of it.”
In 2019 Manuao created his first retail product. Manuao Makeup Instant Brush Cleaner received rave reviews from Makeup Artists and a year later he branched out and started to retail a small range of his own makeup products.
